Women's Green Tech Training Programs

AmeriGreen Corps is developing on-the-job training programs for women in the fields of green construction, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. The initiative will enable AmeriGreen Corps’s “Women Need Green Jobs Too” program to provide unemployed or underemployed women skills related to, weatherization, window and door replacement, equipment operation, and energy auditing. Through employment partnerships, the women will use their new skills to improve the energy efficiency of affordable housing units in the Philadelphia and Tri-State area.
AmeriGreen Corps is also creating a full-time, hands-on job training program for women in the fields of green roofing, urban agriculture and horticulture which will train and certify women in green roof design, installation, and maintenance; landscaping; and related specialties. The training program will include a six week apprenticeship, as well as formal mentoring. AmeriGreen Corps’s goal is to ensure that 80% of graduates attain employment in a relevant industry within three months.
Amerigreen Corps also is developing a training course, related to the field of solar tracking systems, solar technologies and the installation of solar panels. These curriculums will be certifiable and will enhance the level of training that women will receive throughout the region.
AG Corps looks forward to delivering the initial training curricula for this vast program in July 2010.
